Work In Progress Wednesday

Well, I feel like I'm going to disappoint since this update isn't as full as last weeks and then I remember that last week's was 3 weeks worth of work and this week is only one week. I also decided to spend more time with the kids instead of spending so much time on the house. This move has been hard on Moriah so I felt the need to give her some extra attention. As you can see from my previous post we got a double stroller so we've been outside enjoying the neighborhood and the paths near us. I've been enjoying being out of the house too.

OK, now to our work in progress... mostly the main thing has been getting estimates from several siding companies, with much disappointment. Mostly we haven't been impressed with any of the company's customer service and not about to hand over a load of money to anyone who doesn't make us feel confident in their work. So, that's taken much of our time, or should I say wasted our time, sigh...

We have done some shopping though, since our living room is the only room, besides the bedrooms, that is safe for the kids to be in we decided to do a little decorating. I found a rug that I just absolutely adore and we put up some nice shades in the windows. We also put a new light fixture in the entryway and moved our hope chest in there. The hope chest has become a toy chest until we can move the play area into the family room. We also changed the outlet receptacles... many of them were so old that you couldn't keep anything plugged into them. Lastly, we moved the computer from the family room to the living room since the family room is still torn apart. It's so nice to have the computer up and running and Internet working again...

Since Isaac is a major explorer we felt the need to put up a gate at the top of the stairs that lead to the family room. This has been so great to have so he can do all the exploring he wants... problem is, we still don't have the kitchen cabinets done so he's loving exploring in the kitchen. I really need to get them done so he can explore all he wants and I don't feel bad keeping him out.

My biggest accomplishment was installing a new sink faucet in the bathroom. Well, it was a bigger project than we expected. We installed the first faucet (yes, I said first... more later) and we were so excited and turned the water back on to test it out and nothing happened. The faucet was defective. This is the second think we've gotten from Menards that was defective right out of the box but not known until we installed it. We've decided we plan to stick to Home Depot, Lowes and Ace from now on. The funny thing is that we get ads every couple days for Menards and it's so nice to throw it straight into the recycle bin instead of looking at it. They have great prices and I have two light fixtures that I love from there but I can't believe we've gotten so many defective things from them. So, we went and returned the faucet and ended up buying a new one. We also decided to buy a different brand and totally different faucet. I really like the new faucet and it's so easy for Moriah to use which was our main reasoning for getting a new one. Well, we installed it but something was wrong, LOL. To turn on the faucet you had to turn the handles off, to turn off the faucet you had to turn the handles on... by this time it was bed time for the kids and we had already had a rough time getting the faucet in. We decided to leave it until we had time. Well, I grew impatient and so the next day during Isaac's nap I went in there and took the whole thing out and re-installed it by myself. Turns out we installed it backwards, lol. The piece that we installed backwards was the hardest part to get on. Somewhere I got some adrenaline and I was able to get it in. Turned the water on and YAY it was installed right. We still need to install the drain but we figured that could wait until we really do have the time and just keep the old one in for now.

OOPS

My parents are coming early next week to work no the house, we hope to get a ton accomplished while they are here, including fixing the exhaust fan in the bathroom, fixing the issues in the attic and finishing the stairs and possibly buying new entryway doors.
