Flowers Just Bloom

Today's Thursday's Three Rs is going to be a lesson for me that I want to share with you instead of a lesson for my kids.

One of my online girlfriends shared with me a blog post that really resonated with me. I've been really struggling with self-deprecating lately, especially when it comes to photography and my most recent assignments for church and reading this was like a lightbulb flashed. I'm so incredibly honored that people were moved by my photos for the assignment and I need to stop with the self-deprecation.

Anyways, if anyone else feels like they aren't worthy and needs a little lift me up and smack in the face... read this blog post. Flowers Just Bloom by Kelsey Toney.

Trim Down Tuesday

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I'm on my new computer... not everything is set up yet, but WOW, I'm lovin' how fast it is! Anyways, I finished up Week 1 of c25k (couch to 5k) and am thinking about repeating week 1 because I'm sooooo out of shape and still sore from Sunday's run. Although, I know that pushing myself a little bit is good too, but I'm thinking it might be too much and I don't want to injure my hip again. It's been a stressful start to the week and I'm completely stress eating, UGH! I really need to do better with distracting myself from eating when stressed... I also really need someone to just tell me what workshops to register for the ICHE (Illinois Christian Home Educators) convention. Even the "beginner" options are too many and I have to narrow down to about half the workshops... and of course because I procrastinated, I have to have it done by the end of the week for the early bird pricing. Oh, and I need to find a babysitter, lol... I totally should have been on top of this.

Anyways, I'm proud of myself for making it through week 1 of c25k and can already tell I'm getting stronger and can't wait for the day to come when I HAVE to go for a run every couple days because I enjoy it so much and not because I'm trying to get through a program, lol. I lost 3lbs last week although, I know it's all water weight since I've been eating less carbs again. Can't wait to see what next week brings.

Off to download iTunes so I can get Week 2's podcast on my shuffle... Have a great week!

Make It Monday

I'm really excited that NSD (National Scrapbooking Day) is this Saturday and can't wait for all the fun games, contests, freebies and sales. After spending the morning doing a service project with our Sunday School class, I'm pretty sure I'll be spending the rest of the day at the computer celebrating my hobby. I'm really excited about the freebie that Traci's Hawt Mamas has for you for Saturday, just in time for Mother's Day and totally GORGEOUS! I also know that NeeNee has some really awesome templates coming out this week for NSD too and at an incredible price, so I'll be sure to let you all know when it goes live in the store for you to snatch them up. Ok, here are my pages with linked credits.

This first one is a template by Jaclyn Bernardo. I'm so excited to be added to her creative team this week. I've always loved browsing her galleries and you'll notice if you go through my gallery that I've lifted a few of her pages before, so I'm really excited to be joining her team and playing with her templates.

catchin' up

In the parable of the Pharisee and Tax Collector (Luke 18:9-14), Jesus teaches that we are to go before God in humility. With open hands and open minds, we humbly approach God knowing we are sinners, seeking God’s mercy, instead of being boastful and comparing ourselves to others.

my last photo assignment for the current sermon series at my church was revealed yesterday. This was a really hard one for me... and I was giggling yesterday when Mark was asked for his autograph. Although, I am relieved that my assignments are done, I think I may do something like this once a month and do a photo along with scripture that has spoken to me. It's been really kind of cool to get these artistic visions through scripture with these assignments. The nice difference is that I won't be stressed out trying to get the perfect picture, lol... or write an artist's statement... I'm thankful for Jill and Brian in helping me with those... I'm a terrible writer, lol.

Earth Day

How do you like my new post header? I decided to spice things up here a little bit and Zoe gave me permission to use her kit which I bought when I bought the blogware from her, Bloom & Grow which matches her Bloom & Grow Blog In A Box which is what I use for everything else. I love the font so much that I used that I'm going to probably change my header and my labels to match. Anyways, today is earth day and we don't normally do anything different than what we normally do but I had bought some herb seeds and decided it would be the perfect day to do some planting with Moriah. Since our yard is a mess and I'm not sure when we'll be able to do some landscaping I'm not going to be able to have my garden this year but my goal is to definitely have a garden next year. So, we'll spend one more year buying our produce from our farmer's market... although we're looking into coops. Moriah had such a blast and she already knows so much about planting seeds thanks to PBS. I really enjoyed her telling me how to do it. Gosh, I love my little smartie pants! Here's a couple pictures from our adventure.

Work In Progress Wednesday

We are LOVIN' taking a little time off of house renovations to play on the weekends. Moriah decided to give up ballet and other park district classes to get a zoo membership this year and I'm actually really happy that she chose the zoo over classes. I LOVE the zoo and we had a blast there last week and can't wait to go back. My little girl is growing up so fast, I can't believe how fast time flys really really can't. She's also going to be buying a new bike soon. She has to be able to write her name by herself with no help from us and she's become my spelling machine. She's been spelling her name out all week getting ready to write it down. She also has to pay for some of the bike and so we counted up her coins in her "Spend" slot in her piggy bank and she's only $.23 short of what we agreed she would pay for her bike so she has to do some extra chores to get enough. I wonder if she'll remember to put it in the "Spend" slot or if she'll put it in one of the other slots for "invest", "donate" or "save".

On Saturday Mark and Moriah went to the Kite Festival, it was a bit cold but they had fun and Moriah couldn't stop talking about the octopus kite they saw.

Trim Down Tuesday... I'm motivated by cheerleaders... so come cheer me on, pretty please!

It's BACK! I'm participating in a Skinny Jeans Experiment and trying to fit back into my jeans after a really rough winter. So I decided the accountability of posting my pics every week on the blog and my progress will help keep me going. My main goal is to start and complete the C25k program and at least go for a walk or do some form of exercise on my off days. I'm starting the running program today and doing it on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays. This will give me one day of the week that I can go out by myself instead of pushing a jogging stroller with the kids. I can't wait because one of my goals this year was to run a 10K in 2010 and it's not looking so hopeful that I'll be doing it at the rate I've been going at it. Anyways, unlike last time where I got bored and skipped ahead in the program which ended up hurting my hips, I plan to stick to it even if it's boring for the first few weeks. I'm determined not to get injured this time. I also need to look for some 5K races to sign up and keep me motivated to complete this. I forgot how much I NEED to run and am hoping it will help to get me out of my funk. Ok, so I got a fresh new battery for my scale and did my first weigh-in... will you cheer me on?
excuse the butt wedgie and the pantylines, lol but I wanted to put on my skinny jeans to see myself eventually fit into them... and really... I'm hoping by the end of this experiment that they'll be saggy and I'll have to buy a new pair of skinny jeans :)

Make It Monday

I'm working through my unused kits and have been enjoying my evenings of scrapping once the kids go to bed. I bought 2 new kits this Saturday because I just LOVED them and wanted to scrap them right away... plus, one of them had an awesome deal this week that if you bought the kit you got the add-on for free. I couldn't pass up that deal. I pretty much wanted the whole shoppe though, so I wishlisted the rest of the store for when Sweet Rewards comes. Oh, and one of my friends gifted me some wonky templates which I got last night and totally can't wait to play with them. Tomorrow I think I'll be sharing some pics from this weekend. Moriah and Mark went to the kite festival on Saturday while Isaac took his morning nap. I'm sooooo behind on posting my pics from P365 but I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I have too much on my plate and am torn about my P365 blog and whether or not to keep it going. I've been taking my pics every day... I just haven't been editing the photos. Not sure what I'll do right now, although, I'm sure if I just spent one evening updating instead of working on scrapbook pages, I'd be caught up, lol. Anyways, here's my pages from this weekend.

and then check out the new kit for Melissa's guest gig at Scrap Matters... she and Jenn Barrette teamed up to make an AMAZING kit... I'll be using this a ton this summer because my kiddos love the playground so much!
and my first page using it... totally not my normal style but I wanted to try the simple style that I've been seeing a lot of lately... I found it takes me longer to do a simple page than one with lots of layers and clusters, lol. I think it was because I have a hard time not using everything in a kit, it took a lot of restraint. But I LOVE this page and have been wanting to scrap this photo 4EVER!
