Make It Monday

Here are my other pages I made the last couple weeks that I haven't shared yet. I really wanted to scrap my Mother's Day pic and participated in a few blog challenges. I also really wanted to scrap some pics from visiting with Mark's Grandma and Isaac's haircut. It was lots of fun, although my mojo has taken a vacation earlier than our vacation and I have a ton of new photos to scrap but absolutely no mojo to get me going... templates here I come!!!!

Work In Progress Wednesday

We got nothing done this weekend. We were all sick, sick, sick so we spent Saturday just vegging around the house. Sunday we spent enjoying Mother's day and then Mark was back to work on Monday. So, once again, I have no updates on the house. I will say that I'm looking forward to us all being a healthy family again and digging out all of our landscaping of weeds, lol. Hopefully, we'll get some stuff done this weekend... pray for nice and dry weather and good health. :)

And because I can't post w/o pics, I'll leave you with a pic of my two favorite kiddos in the world.

Trim Down Tuesday

Well, I'm back down to where I was 2 weeks ago... but I've been super super sick so I haven't been running at all. I think I'll have to start over on the c25k by the time this wicked cold goes away. I'm a little bummed because I wanted to really do this and be running a 5k in the 9 weeks, but it looks like my body is forcing me to take a break. I'm an emotional eater though so being bummed about being sick and not being able to run means I've been eating terribly. I'm determined to get back on the healthy food wagon again though. We're looking into local farmer's markets and trying to find some good organic local farmers for our produce this summer and then hopefully by next year we'll be able to start our own garden and grow our own produce. I'm so excited, I really can't wait. I'm finding that I'm not eating enough veggies and really trying to make myself add those things back into my diet, especially this summer as they become in-season. One of my favorite meals for summer is grilled meat on a fresh salad. Speaking of salads, we were all sick so we watched PBS all day Saturday and they make some really yummy foods on those shows. I've feeling motivated to cook more and not just buy the boxed/processed stuff. I'm realizing that we need to be better about what we're putting into our bodies. It's no wonder we've been sick and have no energy, sigh.... OK, enough of me being so emoish, lol. Let's hope next week is a better week and we're feeling healthy again.

Make It Monday - Book of Me

I finished my 3 pages for this month's Book of Me challenge over the weekend. All of them are photoless pages, which I usually don't do... actually, I'm not sure I've ever done them this way, but I actually kind of like doing them as long as I add some photos to some of the pages for my kids, I don't think they need to see a pic of me in every page, lol.

#1 - One thing I want to accomplish before my next birthday is...

#2 - I get stressed out when...

#3 - My Name: love it, hate it, a little bit about it...

It's Sunday - Happy Mother's Day

Today is a day full of mixed feelings for me. While I love celebrating being a Mama, my heart aches for those who desire to be a mama but aren't. My heart aches for those who want more kiddos but can't due to secondary infertility. My heart aches for those who've lost babies. I've been there and remember how hard this day was for me. I am so incredibly blessed though, God gave me the desires of my heart and I strive every day to be their teacher and teach them the things of God. I'm definitely not perfect, but gosh darnit, I want to be with them. I love them so much and I hope they know that. I hope they know how much of a gift from God they are and that God was the one who named them long before they were even conceived. I love the story of their names. I love that when we were finally pregnant that wasn't one of the many things we had to think about for them. God knit them so perfectly in my womb and I'm forever grateful for God answering our prayers. I love each of their personalities and I enjoy being with them. You know what I really wanted today? I really wanted my son to say "Mama" to me... he didn't and instead pointed to Mark and said "Dada"... that was my one wish for today... I didn't get it :( oh well, I had a blast with them. Today was a really great day. I got to worship with a community of believers that I love so much and consider to be my family and then I got to spend the rest of the day rejoicing in the gift of motherhood and hang out with my husband and kids... what more could I ask for?

Thanks for reading my ramblings, my thoughts are all over the place tonight, lol!

This is the best picture of me with my kids today, gotta love this age :)

Thursday's Three Rs

Just a little update on the whole homeschooling thing... We are all registered for the ICHE (Illinois Christian Home Educators) convention coming up in June and I'm really excited and anxious at the same time. I'm not so worried about me teaching the kids but for some reason I'm afraid I'm going to shelter my kiddos... I'm not sure why since I haven't in the past, so why would I do it now? I don't know. Anyways, I'm super super excited and hope that this will help get us started. My parents are going to come watch the kids while we're at the convention and I already know I'm going to miss them like crazy. I know it'll be good and I'm doing it FOR them... I'm just going to miss them to pieces. Thankfully, it's close by so if one of us needs to come home to help out with the kids we'll be able to come quickly. I'm worried about Isaac mostly, he won't go to sleep w/o me nursing him first and he lets you know how mad he is... so that would be my one prayer request that he'll take his nap(s) w/o me. We'll be missing the fun stuff at the end of the days but we wanted to be sure we were home to put them to bed. I can't tell you how excited I am though for this convention, since it's all a bit overwhelming and hopefully I'll be able to narrow things down and learn about all the technical stuff. It'll be good to start while she's still in preschool so I have a couple years before we decide if we're doing the right thing. We just really felt called to home school, and I want to be sure it's not my huge desire to be with my kids and that it really is a calling from God. Anyways, thanks for listening to me babble and I'm sure for the next few week's I'll be babbling about how excited I am, lol. Hopefully, it will be more interesting after we've actually gone. It's hard to believe that in 4 weeks we'll be flooded with all this stuff! I just hope my tiny little brain can take it all in.

Speaking of Isaac, can you believe he's 18 months old already. He's totally into everything and is definitely "ALL BOY", but with a sweet teddy bear side. One of my favorite things about being his mama is the gigantic bear hugs he gives... and he gives them all the time and totally randomly. I love this little dude! It was after a whole lot of heartache and trials to finally meet him and I'm so happy that God gave him to us to love and teach.

Work In Progress Wednesday

Well, we're getting back into the swing of things and Mark has been busy busy busy! After realizing that our landscaping is pretty much just weeds, clovers and dandelions, we decided we need to put that higher on our priority list... I admit, I'm quite a bit embarrassed by our yard and kind of convinced Mark to put it at the top of our list. I'm afraid we might have to just re-do our whole yard, it's soooooo bad.

The other thing we're working on is tearing our our deck... it was built by the previous owner and did a terrible job and it's in sad shape and also causing damage to the house so we decided to take out the deck and build a patio. We'll hire someone to make steps but we're going to lay the patio ourselves. Mark bought a palette of cement tiles that were on sale and was quite the story hauling it all home... even the biggest rental truck it was too heavy for. We had no clue it was going to be such a huge deal. After many times of the alarm going off on the truck and moving it around, they were finally able to get it to where the alarm didn't go off.... which begs to question... why sell something that nobody can haul home, lol. Well, Mark got it home finally w/o the alarm going off and quickly unloaded the 3,000+ lbs of tiles into our backyard and got the truck back within the 75 minute rental time. WOOT! Now to find some limestone to lay down below so that we can get started.

Next will be renting a rototiller and start digging out all giant weeds and trying to fix the landscaping and plant some more grass.

ETA:
OK, Mark just linked me up to THIS and now I want to do that to our patio, how cool is that!

Trim Down Tuesday and Melissa's New Releases

Well, I'm not going to be sharing pics this week since I was so busy taking advantage of the contests, giveaways and great deals this weekend and totally forgot. I did weigh myself on Sunday and gained a couple pounds. I wasn't feeling well on Sunday so I didn't run my 3rd day of the c25k so I'm going to be starting week 2 over again this week.

I wanted to share with you Melissa's new releases this week too... she wasn't able to get us the links to the kits before the store went live on Saturday (Friday Night) but was able to get them on Sunday and played with them last night and this morning. They are a collab with Amanda Rockwell and there are 4 of them. FUN FUN FUN!

Make It Monday

I got some pretty awesome deals over the weekend and also got to spend some time working on some fun challenges that were made just for {inter}National Scrapbooking Day. I basically just stuck to the challenges over at Sweet Shoppe Designs because I knew if I went to a few other stores I would have been overwhelmed and probably overstimulated with all the fun going on over the weekend. I did however do some shopping at a few other stores and some "new to me" stores. Gosh, there are a lot of talented designers out there.

Anyways, back to the pages I did this weekend...Some of the challenges were very different than my usual "style" but have turned out to be some of my most fave pages. I had so much fun doing these and can't wait for next year. I'll just post them in order of what I worked on. I won't be linking the credits though, because well I was lazy over the weekend and wanted to get as much done as possible, lol. Just know that most of them come from Sweet Shoppe Designs although, I used some Jac Bernardo goodies too.

First was the "cookie" challenge, Traci made an awesome template for us based off one of her fave layouts in the galleries. I loved it so much I'm keeping it and using again :)

next was a spin-a-lift chain... I had to go to the gallery of the person above me in the thread and spin and lift one of her layouts. I'm not used to not using ellies but I'm really liking how this turned out.

this one was a Neapolitan Challenge we had 3 layouts to pick parts of to inspire our layout. These are always one of my favorite challenges.

then the last one I did on Saturday was the One Word Challenge. The word we were to use was "Remember". Again, this is totally not my style but I really wanted to showcase the beautiful photo and decided clean & simple was the way to go with it. This is my new fave layout right now.

OK, now for yesterday's layouts... phew, I did a lot, lol. First I did the Treat Of The Month challenge, this was just from the regular May portfolio but I wanted to play with Darcy's templates and knew I had to do it this week to get my extra new release point. Again, I'm not used to using no elements, but I love the simpleness of this page!

then I did the Paper 2 Digi challenge, which is to lift a page from the amazing paper layout gallery of KimA.

then I did the Flashback Treat of the Month challenge, which was to go back to the past Treat of the Months and scrap a page from their gallery. I chose the amazing Peppermint (who also is an amazing designer now). I love her simple style and amazing shadows. Her pages just look so real and not at all digital. I enjoyed this challenge and browsing her gallery to pick a page to lift.

and then lastly, I did the Recipe Challenge. Here's the recipe:

~ 2 patterned papers (may use these two more than once on your page)
~ 2 solid papers (including one as a neutral background)
~ 1 ribbon
~ at least one thing (can do more) on an edge
~ circle-shaped element (paper, stitching, etc.; can be more than one if you want)
