Work In Progress Wednesday - busy week

It's been quite the week and we've gotten many things done. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do much but be a mom to the kids. Moriah started having horrible bronchospasms so I had to take her to the dr and then spent most of the time trying to keep her calm when all she wanted to do was play. It's been rough and my sweet girl needs lots of prayers for healing.

Let's see... where do I begin? I almost feel like I should just go room by room instead of trying to go in order of what we did, so here goes...

Upstairs: Moriah's room the curtain rod finally was put up, YAY! The broken house fan was taken out and will eventually be drywalled over. The other two bedrooms didn't have anything done. The bathroom got a lot of work done. First, the new light fixture was installed, then the disconnected and not vented anywhere fan was taken out and Mark put in a new fan with a light. He then went into the attic and the fan had been covered over with insulation so that was taken out and then he made a hole in the roof and vented the fan outside. YAY! We can take hot showers again and other than patching walls and paint and putting in the new sink drain we are pretty much done with the upstairs bathroom.

Stairs: my Dad finished the new hardwood on the stairs and Mark helped prep them... We had taken out the carpet and he had done the hallway and this visit he worked on the stairs. The look so beautiful and all that's left is for Mark to put up paint the wood that we'll use for the risers and install that. Then we'll sand and finish the new floors which I need to figure out what color I want to stain them. The risers will be painted white. I would have loved to stain them all but it would have been too much work and probably would have had to take it all out and start from scratch. The stairs leading upstairs he used the remaining hardwood planks from doing the hallway and some bullnose... for the stairs from the main floor to the lower level we just bought the full step.

The main level: Mark changed the rest of the outlet recepticles. We found out that the shades we bought for the living room were recalled so we will be returning them and are on the hunt for something else. I'm so saddened for the family who lost a loved one because of the design of the shades.

The lower level: my mom spent all of her time in the family room washing off the rest of the wallpaper and paste. She did a great job, it was such a big project and we were really happy to find nicely painted walls underneath so prepping them for painting will be so easy. During nap times Mark and my dad worked in the crawl space... There was a broken/open window down there and the window well was filled up with dirt and gravel. That explains why the crawlspace was so humid. So, they emptied the window well and then had the window repaired and caulked up. Mark had also earlier in the week put a dehumidifier in there and hooked it up to the sump pump so get all that moisture out of there. The humidity went from 95% to 65% in a couple days and that was when the window was open/broken so I can't imagine how much better it is in there. OK, after all the stairs were done, the guys worked in the 4th bedroom. Because of the cracks in the foundation there was some mold to finish cleaning up. The studs had to be replaced and the studs between the bedroom and family room had to be cut and replaced. Then Mark finished cleaning up the mold. The goal is to try to finish up that room since it will be his office and it would be nice to have him working from home a couple days a week again since his commute is so long.

Well, I think I got everything... unfortunately, the pictures will have to wait until tomorrow when I have some time to convert them from RAW to jpg. I guess Foto Friday will have lots and lots of pictures for you.
