Work In Progress Wednesday - Help me pick a color for the bathroom

This was a pretty productive week, over the weekend Mark patched the driveway and moved some of the landscaping that was up too high against the house. I painted the numbers for the house. The last couple days I've been working on painting the upstairs bathroom. Because the bead board was pasted on to the wall we decided to paint it instead of taking it off. I must say that I hate painting bead board, it was really time consuming and I made a huge mess trying to get into all those grooves. Because it was really stained and gross I decided I needed to really get into those grooves with KILZ. If it wasn't so bad I probably would have just painted it. I chose the same espresso brown color that I used in the kitchen and I'm loving it. I still have to do one more coat of paint and then it's on to the upper half. Here's where you guys come in... I need help deciding a color. I was thinking a fun color since the rest of the house will be pretty neutral but then I was wondering if that would be too dark. There is tons of light in the bathroom although, none of it is natural light. Do I do the cream color in my shower curtain or pick one of the fun colors and go with that? If I do color, which one? I was thinking orange originally since that's my favorite color but now I'm feeling nervous about color. Thanks so much for your help!

I vote for the olive-ish green in the shower curtain (last pic, top green flower). It reminds me of my dining room and I LOVE our dining room! It's the perfect bright/fun.

Orange is a BOLD color. Which may come off a bit shocking if the rest of your home is very neutral.

I'd go w/ a green. Then you can use orange as your accent, for now. Later, you could switch to a new accent color relatively cheaply. Just a new shower curtain and few accessories. Some future options: pink, blue, lilac, cream, beige, copper.

I am all about bold colors *L*..like RUST or Orange... but if the rest of your house is mellow.. I agree go lighter.. maybe a Olive

Just a thought about the green...we had it in a bathroom once and everytime you're in there it bounces off the walls and gives you a greenish hue when you look in the mirror....it was horribly unflattering.

Go with your favorite, bathroom are relatively easy to re-do when you get tired of it. I have murals on most of my walls down stairs, strong, bold, brilliant colors, and I love it so much.

While orange is one of my favorite colors, I would worry that it might be too much with the dark color of the beadboard. Plus, like Jessica mentioned above, the reflection of the color on your skin can sometimes be weird. We painted our hall bathroom to be a cool yellow-orange shade and everyday I am thankful that I don't have to do my makeup in that room. lol I think that you could use the same blue color that is in your shower curtain and it would look lovely. It would bring out the little bit of blue in the curtain and brighten up the beadboard without being "bright."

Ooh, I'm liking that blue too! Really, just go w/ whichever blue or green looks best on YOU!

Honestly, I would probably play it safe and choose beige. Then you could really make the room colorful with accessories. You might get tired of the bold colors and it would be easier to switch out accessories and the shower curtain vs. repainting.

ok, I am partial in general to cooler colors and love that blue color in your cutain but I think with the bamboo edge to that plate I would go with the lighter green color. Blues and greens are more calming/relaxing on walls and orange will be more energetic, so it depends on the vibe you are going for in your bathroom I guess. I vote you go with color over beige though. Have fun!

I love orange! Maybe have them match the shade in the shower curain and then do that at 50%. Totally wouldn't be too dark and would look great.
